Job Overview
The Planning and Budget Analyst - in a temporary and part-time role - performs tasks pertaining to operations, accounting and planning activities to support financial functions such as procurement, accounts payable, expense reporting, budgeting and consolidations for the assigned units within University Services. They assist in preparing journal entries and expense reports based on the recommendations of the Senior Planning and Budget Analyst and the Planning and Budget Analysts within the Cluster.
Work Interactions
Reporting directly to the Senior Planning and Budget Analyst and the Finance Officer, the Budget Analyst leads planning for assigned units, and coordinates with analysts to relay functional activities for execution and budget authority.
They meet regularly with the Procurement Analyst, the Planning and Budget Analysts, the Staff Accountant, and the assigned units to ensure operational plans are occurring with efficiency and accuracy. As well, they provide additional support to procurement analyst and staff accountant, where needed; and assist the Planning and Budget Analyst in running reports to monitor and develop budgets and forecasts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Operations, Management, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong communication skills and ability to foster open communication
Strong time-management skills
Great attention to detail
Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders - staff, administrators, faculty, etc.
Adaptability and flexibility
Ability to triage and escalate complex issues to team lead, supervisor or appropriate unit contacts
