Bellarmine University Office of Business Affairs has an opening for a Staff Accountant. This is a regular, full-time position with normal working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, although evening and weekend hours may be necessary depending on work demands. This position will be responsible for various account reconciliations, tracking of restricted funds and performing year-end audit procedures. The duties include, but are not limited to:
Review and record daily bank transactions via journal entry including utilizing third-party websites, initiate electronic bank wires and ACHs; Banking responsibilities will encompass approximately 1/3 of the total work load
Manage university gift accounts
Track and approve financial expenditures of gifted funds in compliance with donor restrictions
Report on endowed funds annually, and other gift funds as requested
Develop and administer a system for providing direction to appropriate personnel re: funding & spending activities of gifted funds
Coordinate accounts in the financial accounting system
Research and recommend solutions for accounting issues as needed
Prepare and input journal entries and reconciles accounts
Assist with year-end close and external audit work
Job Requirements:
This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. One to two years of experience in accounting or related field is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their ability to analyze data and communicate clearly. The candidate must be able to work collaboratively and interact positively within a diverse, multi-cultural environment. The candidate must also be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
