The State University of New York at Fredonia invites applicants for a full-time, TERM appointed Director of University Accounting (Staff Associate, SL4) beginning May 15, 2023. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, team-orientated individual wishing to join our professional staff in a fast-paced environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Finance and Administration, the successful candidate will:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounting/Accounts Payable office and supervise staff (permanent and temporary);
Abide by and understand the rules, regulations, and policies set forth by the Office of the State Comptroller, SUNY, and the campus administration;
Provide staff with annual performance programs and evaluations;
Function as the FREDmart (eProcurement system) campus administrator;
Approve vouchers created and coded by Accounting staff in FREDmart;
Assist in creating and coding vouchers in FREDmart, as needed;
Perform webpage updates, as needed;
Update and maintain the Chart of Accounts, Business Intelligence, and FREDmart;
Execute journal transfers;
Preparation of departmental/divisional reports and participation in meetings with departmental/divisional leaders;
Perform procurement card campus certifications and account updates;
Requires routine contact with campus and SUNY System Administration personnel and possibly serving on SUNY-wide committees;
Presentations, as well as conducting group and individual training sessions is expected;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution;
Background in business/finance/accounting, excellent oral and written communication, analytical skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google, and database applications;
Possess a positive attitude, the ability to independently set priorities, and ability to meet deadlines and adaptability to continual change;
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively, and in a collegial and professional manner, with vendors, faculty, and staff;
The ability to multi-task, meet goals and deadlines;
Demonstrated commitment and ability to work with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and constituents in support of campus and department mission;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 3 - 5 years significant administrative experience.
Experience in higher education business/accounting office;
Experience with an eProcurement system, preferably Jaggaer;
Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
