Departmental Overview
The Finance and Administration Department is responsible for the accounting, forecasting, budgeting, facilities management, and administration functions for University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR).
Gift and Investment Accounting (GIA) reports into Finance and Administration, Is responsible for the accounting, reporting, asset management, and treasury activities of the UC Berkeley Foundation, a separate 501(c) 3 organization. GIA does this in partnership with the Berkeley Endowment Management Company (BEMCO), the investment company managing the $2.9 billion Foundation's endowment pool. GIA performs the accounting and reporting on all financial gifts to the University and the Foundation, including endowment funds. GIA manages and distributes current use gifts and endowment payout from the Foundation to the campus units and the University affiliates. GIA also supports the UCBF trustees and Board committees with financial analyses and reports.

Responsibilities
Supports the accounting and reporting activities for the UC Berkeley Foundation and Campus Gifts and Endowment Funds.
Reconciles assets and liabilities general ledger accounts.
Prepares financial journal entries.
Involves working with various Development Offices, UC Berkeley campus departments, UC Office of President, and UCB affiliates.
Analyzes financial data from multiple sources.
Develops Financial System queries and Excel templates for analyzing financial data and prepare financial reports.
Participates in annual external financial audits.
Required Qualifications
Is able to extract, verify and compile accounting information from a variety of sources.
Has an understanding of the interrelationship of procedures and desired results.
Requires ability to present complex accounting and finance related information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
Highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools.
Has thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Must have excellent problem solving skills with the ability to analyze large amounts of data to generate financial journals or recommend solutions.
Strong inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization.
Education/Training:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields with 3 + years of working experience, preferably in fund accounting, and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification preferred.
Experienced in using PeopleSoft accounting system.

Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted salary that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $86,000.00 - $96,000.00.
This is a 100% full-time (40 hours per week), career position that is eligible for full UC benefits.
This position is exempt and paid monthly.
