Job Overview
The Director of Client Support and Account Management manages the Account Managers team, as well as outreach, education, documentation and program services that enable and empower faculty, staff and students to effectively use technology to achieve University goals.
As well, they manage several operational services - such as the Departmental Technology Representative Program; support the UIS Program and Project Management initiative; set and manage compliance to customer support best practice and reporting guidelines; provide guidance and support for how Account Manager team will support; and collaborate and/or initiate services to the community.
They establish and maintain peer relationships with institutions across the university, U.S. and around the globe; and often lead or provide staffing for cross-functional project and product teams to define, develop and deliver new services.
Work Interactions
Reporting to the AVP, Office of the CIO, the Director of Client Support and Account Management directs a team of UIS account managers, and directly manages teams and individuals throughout the organization assigned to project teams.
They also interact regularly with the AVP, Enterprise Services, Director of Service Management, Manager, IT Training and System Documentation, and other UIS management; and with senior managers throughout all campuses, as well as with vendor representatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree - preference for Master's degree
At least 10 years of experience working in an IT field or related environment
Minimum 10 years' experience managing IT programs or projects
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff
Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
Experience working with diverse stakeholders preferably in an academic or research organization
Experience managing personnel and dealing with conflict
Demonstrated ability to implement/operationalize innovative IT projects working between educational and industry/government/commercial entities
Availability and willingness to work some evenings and weekends
Preferred qualification
Experience working in higher education environments
