The University of Maryland, College Park is hiring an Animal Care and Use Training Program Coordinator to support its evolving animal care and use program.
Working independently with minimal supervision, the Training Program Coordinator is a key position within the Department of Laboratory Animal Resources. The incumbent provides clinical and surgical support and husbandry for research animals, and provides training in animal handling and biomethodology to animal users and other campus stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience: * B.S. degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, which may include graduation from a two-year American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)-accredited veterinary technical program. * Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement. * Minimum of 4 years working with companion and/or research animals. * Working knowledge of federal guidelines for animal care and use. * Basic working knowledge of laboratory animal husbandry practices. * American Association for Laboratory Animal Science certification at the Laboratory Animal Technician Level (LAT). * Experience in academia or large, diverse animal care and use program preferred.
